Support
How can we help?
Answers to the most common questions about PokerSharp: joining the beta, chips, ads, PokerSharp Pro, your data, and getting problems fixed fast.
Email us
support@ycwdesign.com: we answer every message, usually within a couple of days.
Report a bug in-app
Shake your phone anywhere in the app, or go to Settings → Support → Report a Bug. A screenshot travels with your report so we see exactly what you saw.
Join the beta
PokerSharp is in closed testing on Android. Request access to the PokerSharp Beta group, then opt in on Google Play. Steps below.
Closed Beta
How do I join the beta?
PokerSharp is in closed testing on Android, and anyone can ask to
join. Use the Google account that is signed in to the Play Store on
your phone for every step:
Request access: open the PokerSharp Beta group and ask to join. Requests are approved by hand, and Google emails you when you’re in.
Become a tester: once approved, open the Google Play testing page and tap Become a tester.
Install: follow the link on that page to PokerSharp in the Play Store and install it. Beta updates arrive through the store automatically.
I joined, but Google Play says the app isn’t available.
Almost always one of three things: the Play Store on your phone is
signed in to a different Google account than the one you requested
access with, your request hasn’t been approved yet, or the approval
is a few minutes old and Play hasn’t caught up. Switch accounts in
the Play Store (tap your profile picture), wait a little, and open
the testing page again. Still stuck? Email
support@ycwdesign.com.
What do beta testers get, and what do you need from me?
You get the full app before it’s public, and updates as fast as
they’re built. All we ask is that you play it and tell us when
something is wrong: shake your phone on any screen to send a bug
report with a screenshot. The app may occasionally ask you one short
question about how it feels; answering is optional and skipping is
one tap.
How do I leave the beta?
Open the Google Play testing page
and tap Leave the program, then uninstall the app if you like. You
can also leave the Google Group from its page. Your hand history
lives on your phone, so uninstalling removes it unless you exported
a backup or turned on Cloud Backup first.
Getting Started
What is PokerSharp?
PokerSharp is a mobile training app that teaches Game Theory Optimal
(GTO) strategy for No-Limit Texas Hold’em. Eight drills cover the full
skill spectrum: preflop drills, solved flop drills,
a live cash-game mode against adaptive AI opponents, board reading,
showdown drills, equity estimation, pot-odds speed drills, and custom
scenarios, plus deep analytics that show exactly where you’re losing
EV. Every mode is broken down on the
Game Modes page.
It is a study tool only: no real-money play, no multiplayer.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no account of any kind. Even
PokerSharp Pro works anonymously through your app store account. All
your training data lives on your device.
Does PokerSharp work offline?
Yes, every training feature works with no connection at all: drills,
the live cash-game mode, range charts, hand history, and analytics.
The free version’s ads need a connection to load; offline, ad slots
simply stay blank and everything else keeps working.
Does it cover 6-max and full-ring (9-max) games?
Both, everywhere. Preflop training, the flop drill, the live cash
game, and the range chart browser all support 6-max and 9-max
tables, with separate solved ranges for every position at each
table size: 106 range grids in total, all at 100bb effective
stacks. Switch table size in Train’s funnel menu or with the 6-MAX /
9-MAX toggle in Live’s header; the app remembers your choice. The flop library
is split the same way: six solved preflop lines per table size,
solved at that size’s own prices rather than reusing the 6-max
numbers.
Are there flop (post-flop) drills?
Yes. Train mode’s funnel menu has a Streets picker.
The flop street drills 1,141 solved boards across twelve
real preflop lines (six at 6-max and six at 9-max, four
single-raised pots and two 3-bet pots each) and rotates through
four decision types: c-betting, facing a c-bet, facing a raise, and
stabbing after a check. By default you play the hand from the
start: the table deals the preflop spot on that line and grades
your decision with the full range breakdown, then the flop lands
and the graded flop decision follows. The same picker switches to
flop-only (the preflop action fast-forwards) or back to the preflop
drill. The result
panel shows the solver’s real action frequencies, real per-hand
EVs, the EV your answer gave up, and a 13×13 strategy grid for the
whole range on that board. A flop-only hand costs the same chips as
a preflop hand, and a full preflop-plus-flop hand costs two. It is
not a Pro feature either way.
Where does the GTO strategy come from?
Everything is computed with a CFR (counterfactual regret
minimization) solver, the same class of algorithm behind the major
desktop solvers, then imported into the app and validated. Preflop
ranges are solved at 100bb with a fixed bet tree (2.5bb opens, 8.5bb
/ 11bb 3-bets, 11bb squeezes, 22–24bb 4-bets), and the app’s buttons
use those exact sizes so the strategy always matches the spot. Flop
strategies are solved through to the river at 33% and 75% pot bet
sizes with 60% pot raises, to an exploitability target of 0.5% of the
pot. Your decisions are graded against the solver’s actual
fold/call/raise frequencies for that exact spot, not simplified rules
of thumb. The full method and every parameter are on the
home page.
Chips & Ads
What are chips and how do I get more?
Chips are a free counter that meters how many training hands you can
deal in the free version. You get a starting stack when you install,
and you can refill three ways:
Chips can’t be bought with money, can’t be cashed out, and have no
monetary value. They only pace the free experience.
Daily bonus: tap the chip counter and claim it once a day; the amount grows with your login streak.
Rewarded ads: watch a short video for a chip top-up, any time the cooldown is clear.
PokerSharp Pro: removes the chip system entirely.
I ran out of chips mid-session. What happens?
You’ll be offered a short ad to keep playing: either a quick,
skippable one for a small refill or a full rewarded video for a
bigger one. You’re never hard-blocked: there is always a path to
keep training.
Why does the “watch ad for chips” button say it’s unavailable?
Three common reasons: the bonus ad is on its cooldown timer, you’ve
reached the daily rewarded-ad cap (it resets each day), or your
device is offline and the ad can’t load. The daily bonus and the
out-of-chips flow keep working regardless of the cap.
Will I ever see an ad during a hand?
No. That’s a hard rule in PokerSharp: ads never interrupt a hand in
progress on any gameplay screen. Ads appear only between hands, and
rewarded ads only when you choose to watch one.
How do I switch to non-personalized ads?
Open the app → Settings → Ad privacy options.
That re-opens the Google consent form where you can choose
non-personalized ads. You can also reset or delete your device’s
advertising ID in Android or iOS system settings. Details are in our
Privacy Policy.
PokerSharp Pro PRO
What does Pro include?
PokerSharp Pro removes all ads, removes the chip meter (unlimited
hands in every mode), and unlocks X-Ray Replay,
a full-table replay of any completed cash hand with every card
face-up and live win-equity for each seat, plus the Fold
Skipper training option. Every future update is included.
The current price is always shown in the app before you buy.
Is Pro a subscription? How do I cancel it?
Pro is not a subscription. It’s a single one-time purchase through
Google Play or the App Store: you pay once, it never renews, and
there is nothing to cancel. It stays unlocked on your store account
for good, including on a new phone. If you bought it by mistake, see
the refund question below.
I got a new phone. How do I restore Pro?
Install PokerSharp, make sure you’re signed in to the same Google
Play or App Store account you bought Pro with, then open Settings
→ Manage purchase and use Restore purchases.
Your entitlement comes back immediately: no account or password
needed, because the store remembers the purchase.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by the platform that billed you, Google Play or
Apple, under their refund policies, and are usually requested from
your order history there. If you’re stuck or the store turned you
down for something that’s clearly our bug, email
support@ycwdesign.com
and we’ll help you navigate it.
Does Pro sync between my devices?
The Pro entitlement follows your store account, so restoring on a
second device signed in to the same account works. Your
training data is separate from Pro and does not ride along
with it. To get your hand history onto a second device, turn on
Cloud Backup under Settings → Data on both
phones and sign in to the same Google account, or export a backup
file from one and restore it on the other.
Your Data & Privacy
What does Cloud Backup actually get access to?
One hidden folder that PokerSharp creates for itself in your Google
Drive, and nothing else. The app requests a single Google
permission (
drive.appdata) that grants access
only to that folder. It cannot see, list, read, change or
delete any other file in your Drive: no documents, no photos,
nothing. Other apps can’t read PokerSharp’s folder either, and the
folder doesn’t appear in the normal Drive view. What goes in it is
your hand history and your gameplay, display and sound settings.
Chips, daily-bonus state and your Pro entitlement are deliberately
left out. You can pull the plug at any time with
Disconnect, wipe the cloud copy with
Delete Backup, or revoke the app entirely from
your Google account permissions.
Where is my training data stored?
On your device. Hand history, stats, and settings are stored
locally, there is no PokerSharp account, and we run no server that
holds your hand history. The one way your records leave your phone
is if you turn on Cloud Backup
(Settings → Data), and even then they go to a hidden,
app-private folder in your own Google Drive, never to us. It is off
until you connect it. Separately, the app sends us anonymous play
stats (which modes you use, how long decisions take) under a random
install ID with nothing personal in it; turn that off any time in
Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous play
stats. If you ask the coach a question, that question and a
summary of that one hand are sent to be answered; see Ask the Coach
below. The full picture is in our
Privacy Policy.
How do I delete all my data?
You control all of it:
Each of those permanently removes locally stored data. If you never
turned on Cloud Backup there is no remote copy to delete, because
none was ever created. If you did, delete it yourself with
Settings → Data → Delete Backup, or from
your Google account at
myaccount.google.com/permissions.
We have no access to your Drive and could not delete it for you
even on request.
In the app: Settings → Data → Clear Hand History.
Android: Settings → Apps → PokerSharp → Storage → Clear Data.
Any platform: uninstall the app.
Can I move my hand history to a new phone?
Yes, in two ways. Pick whichever you prefer:
Restoring merges rather than replaces, so importing the same backup
twice is harmless. If your device-level backup (Google One or iCloud
full-device backup) included PokerSharp’s data, restoring that
brings it across too.
Cloud Backup: Settings → Data → connect your Google account on the old phone and run Sync Now, then connect the same account on the new one. Your hands and settings come down automatically.
A backup file: Settings → Data → Export Hand History on the old phone, move the file however you like, then Restore From Backup on the new one. No Google account involved.
Ask the Coach
What is Ask the Coach and where do I find it?
A chat with the PokerSharp coach about a hand you just played. After
you answer a hand you’ll see an ASK THE COACH
button under the result in Train, Custom Play and the flop drill, on
a finished Live hand’s summary, and on a past hand opened from Hand
History. Hand History also has one for your overall stats. Tap it
and the coach already knows your cards, the spot, what you picked
and what the solver preferred, so you can ask things like why a
call was fine or what the villain’s range looks like. Follow-up
questions work in the same conversation. It is only offered after a
decision, never in the middle of a hand, and it answers poker and
app questions only.
How many questions do I get?
Free players get 3 questions a day, and a follow-up
counts as a question. The count resets at midnight UTC, and the app
shows your next free question as a time in your own local clock.
PokerSharp Pro has unlimited questions. If you’re out
for the day the app tells you when the next one is available.
What happens to my questions? Can I stop it being kept?
When you send a question, the app sends your question, a short
summary of that hand (or of your stats) and the earlier turns of the
chat. They go to our server and on to Anthropic, which writes the
reply. Anthropic does not train its models on this by default, and no
name, email or account is attached because the app has none. Please
don’t type personal details into a question.
Unless you turn it off, we keep questions and answers for 90 days,
under a hashed install ID, to check and improve the answers. To stop
that, switch off Settings → Privacy → Share
anonymous play stats: logging stops and what was already
logged is deleted. The coach still works with it off, and follow-ups
within 24 hours still know the conversation, then it’s gone. If you
report an answer, that one is kept for 30 days so we can review it.
The details are in our
Privacy Policy.
The coach isn’t showing up or says it isn’t available.
Ask the Coach is Android only for now, and it needs the version
of PokerSharp installed from Google Play, and a copy installed
some other way may be refused. It also needs an internet connection,
unlike the drills. If you’re on the Google Play version and still
can’t see it, make sure the app is up to date. Otherwise shake the
device and send us a report.
Troubleshooting
How do I report a bug?
Three ways, all built into the app:
Reports are sent only when you tap send, are used solely for fixing
the issue, and are deleted after it’s resolved. See our
Privacy Policy.
Shake your phone on any screen: the report form opens with a screenshot of what you were looking at.
Take an OS screenshot inside the app: a banner offers to turn it into a report (Android 14+ / iOS).
Settings → Support → Report a Bug if you prefer the manual route.
Animations feel slow (or too fast). Can I change them?
Yes. Settings → Gameplay has an Animations
control with Off / Normal / Fast / Faster. “Off” skips dealing and
chip animations entirely for the fastest possible drilling. The app
also respects your device’s reduce-motion accessibility setting.
The app says I’m out of chips but I just claimed the daily bonus.
Each hand costs a few chips, so a long session can use up a bonus.
Check the chip counter (top-left on game screens). If the red dot
is lit, another grant is available: the daily bonus or a bonus
rewarded ad. If something genuinely looks wrong with your balance,
shake the device and send us a report so we can see the state.
Ads aren’t loading at all.
Ads need an internet connection, and occasionally the ad network has
no fill for your region. The app is built to fail open: if an ad
can’t load within a few seconds, you’re granted the chips anyway
rather than being stuck on a spinner. If it happens constantly on a
working connection, send us a bug report.
Something else is broken.
Shake the device to send an in-app report (best, because the
screenshot and context ride along), or email
support@ycwdesign.com
with your device model, Android/iOS version, and what you were doing
when it broke. We read everything.
No matches. Try a different word, or email us directly.
Still need a hand?
No bots, no ticket maze. Your email goes straight to the people who build PokerSharp.
